Ballet Aligned is pleased to announce that as of the Summer of 2025, Lisa Preece, owner of Dance Illusion has taken on the management and ownership of Ballet Aligned. Steffanie Casperson will continue to teach and will be able to devote more time to her role as Artistic Director moving forward.
This change is seen as an advantage to both organizations. Preece, whose daughter Jaycee trained with Ballet Aligned nearly since its inception and originated multiple leading roles in Ballet Aligned’s “Once Upon a Storytime” ballets, has always had an eye for good training. Said Preece, “I want to see the vision for Ballet Aligned thrive and reach even more students. From the professional level training and highly qualified teachers to the beautiful ballets, much will remain the same. I am taking on the management and administrative side, as well as advertising, communication, etc. for the upcoming season. I look forward to growing this program that I believe in so much.”
Casperson said, “Lisa and I have always had a great relationship. She encouraged me to open Ballet Aligned years ago. And it is wonderful that I will be able to do more of what I love – training great dancers and creating new ballets – while getting to offload the logistics of running a successful dance school.” She added, “For over a decade, I have worked with ballet dancers who trained with Lisa but wanted a more serious ballet focus. These dancers have gone on to dance collegiately and train with professional companies all over the world! I hope she and I can continue to work together to ensure Cache Valley dancers have the skills to make their dance dreams come true!”
“The top ballet programs around the country offer more than just ballet classes,” Casperson said. “In the past, Ballet Aligned has not had sufficient enrollment to be able to offer modern or contemporary. I am hoping the ballet students strengthen their stage presence and coordination by taking these other classes they will now have access to in a single registration process.”
Preece added, “The competition dancers who score the highest at competitions also have a deeper, technical knowledge of ballet. It’s like the piano of music – a foundation that makes every style better. So our hope is that with access to Ballet Aligned classes that are not in conflict with their competition commitments, that our teams get better and better!”
