As a general rule, class totals are approximately the total number of instruction hours each semester multiplied by $12/hour. Fall semester totals for each class are below.
Mini Ballet, Age 3-5
For new dancers ages 3-6, this 45-minute class builds on dancers' natural abilities, gently introducing them to ballet class structure, themes, and technique by engaging their movement and imagination, all to the music and motifs of famous classical ballets like The Nutcracker, Cinderella, etc. Participants in this class age 4+ MAY be invited to perform in Ballet Aligned productions. There is no dress code for non-performing dancers in this class. Cost: 14 classes for $125.
Ballet Beginnings, Age 4-6
For new and progressing students, this 45 min class moves a curious and energetic dancer down a path to better “dancing,” introducing concepts like musicality and movement dynamics while building body coordination and utilizing the dancer's imagination! The curriculum is based in creative movement (teaching and establishing the foundational concepts of all dance forms) with some ballet steps and terminology. This class will be invited to perform in Ballet Aligned productions. There is no dress code for this class, but ballet slippers and tights are recommended (and required of dancers who will perform - the dress code requirement for performers can be found at Dress Codes – Ballet Aligned.) There are 14 Tuesday classes for $125 for fall semester. Thursday meets for only 13 classes and is $115.
Ballet Basics, Age 6-8
For new and progressing ballet dancers, this 60 min class begins to establish positions, use ballet terminology, and instruct more comprehensively on correct execution of ballet technique. There is still space for the flow of imagination, using lots of creative imagery and encouraging the dancers in their free expression. The dress code requirement for this class can be found at Dress Codes – Ballet Aligned. Class participants will be invited to perform in Ballet Aligned productions. Cost: 15 classes for $180.
Children's Contemporary, Age 6-9
This 60 min class gives space for the flow of imagination, using lots of creative imagery and encouraging the development of musicality and free and dynamic movement without the constraints of ballet technique. It can be taken in addition to Bas I & II and Pre-Company or as a stand-alone class. Ballet slippers and leotards are required but no dress code is otherwise specified. This is a non-performing class. Cost: 13 classes for $150.
Ballet Basics II/Pre-Company, Age 8-11
This 90 min class can be taken once or twice a week. (To be considered Pre-Company, it must be taken twice a week WITH the Flex/Feet/Rotation class.) It features accelerated pacing. Dancers age 9+ are strongly encouraged to take twice a week. (Dancers under age 11 will not be advanced to Jr. Company class until they have taken Ballet Basics II - or an equivalent class with another program - twice a week.) The dress code requirement for this class can be found at Dress Codes – Ballet Aligned. Participants in this class will be invited to perform in Ballet Aligned productions. Final placement in this class is by audition/placement class. Twice a week cost: 30 classes for $530. Once a week cost: $265.
Flex/Feet/Rotation, Age 9-12+
This 60 min class is offered once a week to help dancers increase their flexibility, prepare for and improve their pointe and foot work, establish healthy habits of hip rotation for ballet technique, and optimize their future acceptance into the Company Training Program. Students should wear the dress code for the other BA classes they are attending. This class should be taken as a supplent for Pre- and Company dancers. (This is a non-performing class.) This class is free of charge to Company Members taking it before the YAGP/Contemporary class. Cost: 12 classes for $145.
Junior Company, Age 10+
This class is 2x/wk for a weekly total of 5 hours and is designed to strengthen dancer technique, instruct in beginning and intermediate pointe work, and prepare dancers for more technically demanding and featured roles in Ballet Aligned productions. The dress code requirement for this class can be found at Dress Codes – Ballet Aligned. Junior Company members will be required to attend a minimum of 3 Ballet Aligned classes/week. Recommendations for additional classes are individualized and based on the dancers needs for progression. (Final placement in this class requires an audition/placement class. You do not need to perform as a company member to attend this class. Dancers wishing to receive company roles in BA productions will additionally be required to sign a company contract.) Cost: $900. Senior Company, Age 12+
This class is 2x/wk for a weekly total of 5 hours and is designed to strengthen dancer technique, instruct in intermediate/advanced pointe work, and prepare dancers for leading roles and solos in Ballet Aligned productions, as well as acceptance to collegiate and professional training programs nationally. The dress code requirement for this class is the same as the Junior Comapny dress code (see above). Senior Company members will be required to attend a minimum of 4 Ballet Aligned classes/week. Recommendations for additional classes are individualized and based on the dancers needs for progression. (Final placement in this class requires an audition/placement class. You do not need to perform as a company member to attend this class. Dancers wishing to receive company roles in BA productions will additionally be required to sign a company contract.) Cost: $900. YAGP/Company Contemporary, Age 11+
This is a supplemental class only for Ballet Aligned Company Members. Its structure will teach classical variations (solos) and corps de ballet work to attendees. It is designed to refine dancing, improve stage presence, and increase the rate at which dancers are able to assimilate and remember choreography. YAGP is an international ballet competition and a wonderful opportunity for dancers to a) be seen and evaluated by famous classical dancers and b) challenge themselves in solo and/or group work and c) compete with dancers from around the state and country. YAGP participation is optional and will incur additional fees to cover costumes and competition registration. AFTER YAGP is over (usually by early February) OR if participants do not wish to compete, the class content may additionally focus on contemporary dancing. Teen/Adult, Age 13+
This 1.5 hr class is for dancers ages 13 and up. Come try ballet, get a great work out, or add the class to your Ballet Aligned training to refine your skills! There is no dress code, and this class is not part of the Ballet Aligned productions, except by invitation. Cost: 15 classes for $270.
Why should you take classes with Ballet Aligned?
1. We have the best teachers in the valley, focused on fostering a love of classical ballet for our beginning students, and focusing on establishing a solid technical foundation for our students as they advance.
2. ALL our students are invited to perform in our shows if they are able to make the performance commitment, which only falls on ONE WEEKEND PER SEMESTER! And our shows are NOT recitals but narrative story ballets, often featuring professional guests, that raise money (over $12,000 donated in 2022-24) for worthy Cache Valley causes! 3. SO AFFORDABLE! At our highest levels, taking classes 3x/week for 2hrs each time (AND MORE), ballet over an entire year, including costumes fees and all the rest, is UNDER $2000!
4. Our fully enrolled students (AND their parents!) who attend 2x/week or more are invited to attend Ballet West performances in SLC FREE of charge! More about these AND other community outreach events at BalletAligned.com/events.
5. Because ballet is a classical art form, there are no competitions or conventions you are required to attend, and no competitive/intimidating mindsets or personalities to navigate around.
