Meet Ballet Aligned Director Steffanie Casperson
Steffanie Casperson received full scholarships to train at the Harid Conservatory (in Florida), School of American Ballet (in NYC), and Pacific Northwest Ballet (in Seattle). A native of Utah, Steffanie danced professionally for one year with the Hartford Ballet, before serving an LDS mission and returning to perform with Ballet West for four seasons.
During her dancing career she worked with ballet luminaries like Violette Verdy, and Marjorie and Maria Tallchief to name a few. She also performed professionally in most of ballet’s classics including Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, La Sylphide, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Romeo and Juliet, as well as famous works by Balanchine including “Serenade” and “Who Cares” among many others. While still performing, Steffanie became heavily involved with Ballet West’s award winning “Ballet West for Children” - an education and outreach program, where she was able to share her love of ballet with thousands of students across the state of Utah.
Steffanie retired to become a mother and now homeschools four children. She has continued her passion for ballet education as well. Steffanie has taught ballet for 12 years and her students have gone on to perform leading roles in local productions, to receive scholarships to summer programs with the Joffrey Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet West, Boston Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet, and to be chosen for year-round training with Boston Ballet, Ballet West, and University of Utah.
